– Bring and pick-up appointments
Please let me know the bringing time and pickup times at least one day in advance. If you are going to be late, please inform me as early as possible.I have on some days up to ten appointments - if everyone comes late, it will quickly get chaotic. In addition, all the dogs have fixed and individual time routines, some need up to 30 minutes to "read the newspaper", and will during that time block the possibility for pick up or drop off of other dogs. The dogs eat between 6:30am-9am and and 4pm-6pm.afterwards, they immediately go outside, and again they go out about every two hours.
– Cancelllations, Date changes, and short notice Inquiries
For regular consumers I try to be flexible and also to allow for short notice bookings, since I know these dogs well, I can better plan. This flexibility does notapply to cancellations or reduction of reserved dates.
Please inform me, at least 7 days before the start date of the reservation, if you want to shorten or cancel some reservations dates via text message or voice message.. If you don't cancel at all, i.e. simply don't show up for the booked reservation, I unfortunately have to remove you from my regular customer list and charge 50% of the reservation costs.
– What should we bring?
Please always bring the vaccination booklet, or a copy of it, if medications are needed, bring them, leash and collar and/or harness, a suitable muzzle and food. Optionally you can bring a bed or blanket, but please nothing expensive, I cannot take liability if the other dogs chew on it.
The vaccinations should be up to date. Please bring a good fitting muzzle, required for all new dogs. If your dog can easily escape his collar, please have him wear a harness.
– Anything special about food?
Please bring the usual dog food with you for your dog. If you feed BARF, please separate the portions before hand. In the case of dry food, ideally bring a marked cup, so that the correct amount will be given.
If your dog does not immediately eat his food, please change the food promptly before the reservation. It is generally not possible to leave the dog food sitting out, since other dogs will eat it. Therefore it is important that your dog receives food that is will immediately eat.
– Ball addiction
I can only give balls, toys, or chew bones to the dogs occasionally, for example during one-on-one care. For some breeds, ball games can act almost like an addiction and cause high stress and thus aggression (e.g. Collies, Dachshunds, German Shepherds, Jack Russell Terriers, among others). In such cases, I recommend focusing on obstacle and trick training, starting with treats and then slowly switching to verbal rewards or clicker training (and avoiding balls completely).
– Ear infections
I recommend cleaning your dog’s ears thoroughly with a suitable dog ear cleaner before the start of their stay, especially for dogs that tend to develop ear infections, such as young Golden Retrievers. Make sure to use a product specifically designed for dogs’ ears and follow the instructions for use. If your dog already suffers from recurring ear problems, shows an unusual smell, or scratches their ears frequently, please have this checked by a veterinarian before the stay.
– How do you handle dog walks?
I really enjoy going for walks, but only with dogs that do not pull on the leash. For dog owners whose dogs tend to pull, I highly recommend using a head halter, such as the „Haltie“ . These help control the dog and make the walk more enjoyable for both sides.
Many dog owners in Brandenburg allow their dogs to run freely without a leash or with a dragging leash in the forest. This I do not do, for security reasons. When we go for walks with dogs in my care, they are always leashed, also in the forest.
– Dog Training Course
I strongly recommend that all new dog owners attend a puppy school with socialization training – ideally while their dog is still young. This way, you can confidently handle your dog, and they’ll learn to interact with other dogs in a friendly and self-assured manner.
